Posted by Sanjaya on August 27th, 2009 My buddy and I found four used pseries servers in a dumpster out behind the local computer shop. I told him that I had seen where these could be worth some serious money. We dove in and pulled all four of them out. I figured that we could sell them on one of those auction sites on the internet.
I took the pictures and tried to figure out all of the information about them by reading the stickers that were on them. I also did some research online about how much they should be worth. I did not want someone bidding too low and not paying for what they were getting.
We went back to the dumpster that next night, and found used ibm printers and keyboards. I knew that someone somewhere was looking for exactly those things, even if they were only wanted to part them out. I did not set the reserve on them as high as the used pseries servers, but they all were being bid on, in about twenty four hours time.
I had set the auctions for the used ibm pieces and the servers to last about three days. I did not want to wait too long for my money. We sold everything total for about ten thousand dollars. We were happy with the outcome.
Posted by Sanjaya on August 23rd, 2009 If you are looking for a new computer, why not try a new refurbished used dell computer. I have two friends who swear by them. The site that they have used to purchase theirs is very easy to manage. The pictures are big and bright and the descriptions are very detailed.
I was thinking of getting one for my office, so that I could keep all my work stuff on my work computer and then my personal stuff on the used dell.
I checked on some of the prices for the used poweredge servers they had also. I have not found another company that even comes close in price and quality. I even called my local computer repair shop to ask them what they would charge if they were to sell me used poweredge servers. They were about two hundred dollars more and I would have to wait about six weeks to get it.
I went ahead and bought a used dell for my office and am so glad that I did. Our computer tech guys came in and checked to see if anyone was doing personal stuff on the company’s computers that could cause viruses.
When they saw that I had my own personal used dell computer in my office, they did not even look through my computer. If they had, they would have just found a few old personal files that I have not moved yet.
Posted by Sanjaya on August 13th, 2009 I bought two used sun servers from the neighbors before they moved out of town to have in case the ones we have installed already ever gone down. I would rather just put the used servers in instead of waiting for a repair man to take his sweet time getting there to fix them.
I have bought used sun computers before online to just keep in a storage shed in case we need them at home or even at the office. It is very hard to have your computer crash and then wait to see if it can be repaired all the while not being able to work.
Two of my associates know that I have the used sun servers and the used sun computers just in case, and they have asked me if I would be willing to sell them one just so that they can keep them in their office closets in case they need them.
I would have, but they wanted to give me half of what I had paid for them and I am not going to just give them away. I would like to at least make the money back that I had paid for them.
