Many people in the advertising and marketing world have been worried with the recent drop of promotions in the classical media advertising. They have been comparing which is better – a TV ad or an ad from movie breaks. A recent survey showed that movie breaks advertising is gaining momentum but considers TV advertising is still a recommended one since it had 49 percent rating as compared to other advertising media when it comes to advertising of promotional products and all other forms of business gifts.

On the hand other groups in the advertising industry have also seen TV and other advertising media as a very costly endeavor. They claimed they’d rather shift to using the promotional items form of advertising. This means directly promoting the products to the customers. According to these people there is really difference when customers actually touch, hold or tried the promotional items rather than saw them on TV. They have also the point in their arguments. However, this kind of promotion is only good at smaller items which can be easily promoted such as hair conditioning shampoos since they are handy and can be easily promoted by field promotion agents. This type of promotion can be more costly when you promote expensive items like branded perfumes. It’s too costly to let anyone try the smell of the items by giving them promotional gifts as making some sampling techniques. The same is true with corporate fashion products. Although the idea is good but it can be good only to limited items.
